I am treasuring every moment.
Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed and feel under pressure to start planning right away - getting engaged really is one most amazing feelings (I was on cloud 9) and you should make the most of every moment!
I am in control of my finances.
Budgeting is often overlooked during all of the excitement, but at the end of the day it really determines everything. If you’re not completely funding the wedding yourself as a couple, it’s often a bit of an awkward conversation to have with parents etc. but it is a natural and important part of the planning process.
I am embracing challenges and overcoming obstacles before they arrive.
The guest list is a very daunting subject but again it is essential. So many venues are restricted by numbers, and the costs really build up quickly. It’s best to get this sorted as soon as possible in order to avoid any nasty surprises. Speak to your parents - just because you haven’t always dreamed of a particular relative being at your wedding it doesn’t mean they haven't. In some ways, this day is as much about them as it is about you - their happiness is also important.
I am staying true to myself.
Whilst blogs, Pinterest and Instagram are all amazing sources of inspiration, you can sometimes get overwhelmed. Don’t feel the pressure to follow particular trends, create your own trends that reflect your style as a couple.
This is bringing us even closer together.
Planning your wedding will at times become stressful. Don’t let one day get in the way of what makes you both ‘you'. There is a reason why you got engaged and it’s important to always remember this even when things do get a little heated!
