Ravello, Campania

One of our fondest memories of our recent trip to Italy was soaking in the enchanting atmosphere of Ravello whilst sipping apertivo in the beautiful Piazza Duomo. The sound of the peaceful cathedral bells and the stunning views of the Amalfi coastline make this Medieval hilltop village a perfect honeymoon location. Since the early 20th century, Ravello has always been an exclusive destination with celebrities and writers alike from Jackie Kennedy to D.H. Lawrence. With so many places to visit within easy reach of Ravello, you can truly experience Campania’s regional culture and explore it’s many treasures. There are lots of fabulous hotels to choose from including the 12th century Renaissance Palazzo Avino and the luxurious Belmond Hotel Caruso.

Our recommendations…

- Immerse yourself in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Pompeii & Herculaneum

- Explore the sites of Amalfi, Positano & Sorrento on a breath-taking coastal drive

- Soak in the glamour of Capri

- Revive yourself in the thermal spas of Ischia

- Hire a Vespa for a thrilling coastal ride that you will never forget!

Taormina, Sicily

Considered by many to be The Pearl of The Mediterranean, Taormina is one of our favourite spots. This spectacular resort town, picturesquely perched high above the sea has been a popular tourist destination since the 18th century, when young noble men would embark on their grand tour. As you explore the beautiful winding alleyways sprawling off the Corse Umberto I, you will be spoilt for choice with the many outstanding bars and restaurants that Taormina has to offer. We absolutely adored the romantic atmosphere and stunning views on the Piazza IX April from the rooftop restaurant of The Baronessa, and equally the fantastic culinary experience of the Ristorante Cinque Archi. Our stay in the luxurious Ashbee Hotel was idyllic. With it’s details of artistic and cultural heritage, this English villa built in 1908 offers breath-taking views from it’s infinity pool overlooking The Mediterranean, and a true feeling of being in an Italian garden with scents of Sicilian lemon and orange filling the air from the surrounding trees. Not to mention, the hotels’ exclusive honeymoon suite will make every bride and groom feel completely pampered! If cocktails and Jazz are your thing, you will be in your element at The Cosmopolitan Hotel Metropole. Located in the heart of the town, this hotel is fantastic for shopping and access to everything that Taormina has to offer!

Our recommendations…

- Spend a romantic evening listening to Opera with an incredible backdrop of the Teatro Greco & Mount Etna

- Visit Taormina’s array of beautiful beaches including the Baia Di Mazzarò and Isola Bella

- Find peace and tranquility combined with terrific views of Mount Etna and the coast in the Giardini Della Villa Communal

- Take a tour of the volcanic Aeolian Islands

- Join a boat tour for a scenic meander along Taormina’s dramatic coastline…make sure to see the Blue Grotto!

- Sample a deliciously refreshing granite or a mouth-watering gelato at one of Taormina’s many Gelateria’s

- Take a stroll around Taormina’s beautiful churches, Santa Caterina and San Giuseppe

- Step off the beaten track with a visit to the nearby captivating hilltop village of Castelmola

- Visit Siracusa’s ruins and stop off for lunch in the magnificent Piazzo Duomo nestled within the historic Island of Ortigia

-Walk in the footsteps of the Ancient Greeks with a trip to the outstanding Valley of The Temples

- Get active and take an excursion up the pre-historic Mount Etna…don’t forget to pack your walking boots!

Tuscany

With it’s beautiful rolling countryside, artistic heritage and architectural masterpieces, Tuscany has an abundance of romantic and fabulous places to visit and stay on your honeymoon. Tuscany is a region rich in Medieval history. We loved the relaxed vibe and tranquillity of Volterra and the impressive romanesque and gothic architecture of San Gimignano. Ristorante Etrutia in Volterra’s Piazza Dei Priori boasts some fantastic traditional Tuscan cuisine…and you may even be as lucky as we were and witness a traditional Italian festival such as the Volterra A.D. 1398 Medieval Fair. Whether you fancy a rustic yet luxurious countryside retreat or a cosmopolitan hotel in a city full of culture, Tuscany has it all! Two wonderful hotels include the impeccably stylish Villa Bordoni located in Chianti and the sleek J.K. Place in Florence. Although Tuscany doesn’t often spring to mind beach holidays, you will be surprised by how many delightful coastal locations it has to offer, such as the vibrant and lively beaches of Versilia or the more peaceful and untouched beaches of Livorno and Grosseto.

Our recommendations…

- Spend the day wondering around Tuscany’s bounty of gardens such as the Florentine Giardino Di Boboli or The Renaissance Garden of the Villa Medici, Fissile

- Take a romantic carriage ride to explore Florence

- Immerse yourself in the rich culture of Florence’s galleries and museums - go on a guided tour of The Uffizi Gallery or visit the Palazzo Medici Riccardi

- Experience some of the world’s most fantastic renaissance architecture such as Il Duomo

- Stand in awe of Florence’s gothic style Cattedrale di Santa Maria Del Fiore

- For a true taste of Tuscany visit the organic vineyard Val Delle Corti, famous for it’s Chianti Classico Wine…sample a glass (or perhaps a bottle) accompanied by a delicious plate of salami whilst watching the sunset

- Tread in the footsteps of films stars in Siena - enjoy a drink in the Piazza Del Campo whilst taking in the views of the impressive Fonte Gaia

- Climb one of the world’s most unique pieces of Architecture - the leaning tower of Pisa followed by a carriage tour of this fantastic university city

- Explore the renaissance walls and cobblestone streets of Lucca - famous for it’s Olio D’Olive Lucchase and the home of the great Italian Opera Composer Giacomo Puccini
